No easy answer to this question. Most School districts fill thier coaching needs from the teaching staff. IF they are lucky one of the staff may have played baseball in college but for the most part it is handled like an secondary income position for teachers. It may be easier to take on an assistant job first some are paid and some are volunteer. But it is a foot in the door. From my own experience, qualifications and knowledge mean nothing in most school district for hiring of coaches. My sons district had a former d-1 asst. coach and all american player apply but not being a district teacher he was looked over. I would suggest volunteer or find a job in the district. Good Luck it is an honorable thing to want to coach our youth of today.
