I used to think a good, reasoned argument, free of bullshit and well presented, worked better than anything. But I have read lately about some of these True Believers that follow Bush around. Read John Dean's "Conservatives without Conscience," which talks about how a certain percentage of people WILL NOT be reasoned with, no matter what. Dean's advice, therefore, is to marginalize those people by energizing a more moderate base. So, I guess that moderate base is still able to be reached with a good, reasoned argument, free of bulllshit and well presented.

Ha, way too broad a question my friend. I convince people for a living and it is more an art than a singular thing. First you have to be knowlegdgeable and confident in that which you are trying to sell (or persuade). It doesn't hurt to be funny and amiable as well. Don't speak softly, only those who are unsure of themselves or their product/position speak quietly- it's a sign of weakness. Also try not to sound like your attempting to persuade them in the first place . Be prepared and knowledgeable about the down side of your own cause as well. This way you can be ready to rebutt any objections or complaints about your side. Watch Southpark and copy Cartman's style... he's the master. LOL

Who has the hardest jobs requiring to persuade people ? I would say---Lawyers and Salespeople---car salespeople. So people from these fields would probably be the best people to ask this question. I'm thinking that they have had the worst reputation on record, dealing with the public as to being manipulative and cunning. If a person was wanting to learn to be persuasive, taking a class in Sales would probably teach you what to say, and what not to say!

Persuade people to do what...bend to your will, rob a bank, jump off a cliff, take their clothes off, give u money it's a loaded question but in my experience you catch more fly's with honey then vinegar. If that does'nt work bonk them on the head.

Honesty ( given as a part of Integrity )

It is the best
And it is the easiest.
Why more people don't see this I will probably never know.

Of course if one is trying to cheat people this obviously will not work very well. ( I am not saying this about you. I am just making the comment in general )
