For the same reason they don't have the basket smaller, higher up, and with more time outs: it just wouldn't be basketball otherwise!

Timeouts 1) let the whole team catch a breath; 2) are a useful strategy to break an opponent's rhythm; 3) lets the coach make an important adjustment to the defensive or offensive strategy.
Changing the basket's size and distance from the ground won't help. To get what you're looking for, players need to learn and use basketball fundamentals (like they used to back in the day) to take better shots.

If u made the basket bigger, it whould just make things easier. No one would miss a shot in the NBA. Time outs help give energy back 2 the players and give coaches time 2 make plays. I bet u said tht because u hate commercials. Hey, I do 2. Make the basket lower means every player in the NBA could dunk without jumping.

Yes, make the basket much larger, rectangular and have it standing upright on the ground. Change the surface to grass and make it only legal to touch the ball with your feet-that should improve things!

How would this improve the game? You think they are in kindergarten? They are 6 feet tall and better. Bigger basket, what challenge is that?

yeah right. soon they will let little kids play in the nba too, since the hoop is so low and the basket is so large. and they need timeouts. the coach needs to go over plays and let the team catch their breath.
