Or will the short-memoried media clowns and fans revive it in 2010? And before anyone mentions Bannockburn just let me say that any countryman of mine who prattles on about that should have his testicles strung up on the London Eye. Along with those of English football pundits of course!

1966 is etched in the English forever...it will never die, fade or be forgotten. Its the one and only time England won the World Cup in that game we call "Football" - you know the game the English invented so how can they kill the memory?!!

Oh well...at least we have a break from hearing about it (until 4 years time!)

Not a chance until they win something else which will be never so be prepared five minutes into the preparations for the preparations for the qualifying rounds of the next twenty World Cups and Euro Championships for all the hype and pictures and Mac donalds ads about all the heroes of former "campaigns" that did not have the skill to convert a penalty and so eliminate their country from another major sporting event being paid millions to embarass themselves and the country by taking the money and gloryfying failure for our kids for years to come. I have to admit I would love to be the England Manager getting paid millions to lead a bunch of no-hopers around the World on all expenses paid holidays when you can pop out of the beach bar or boutique hotel for a couple of hours running around with some of your mates from different countries (if you get a game) and maybe even get your picture in a magazine or on TV, with some mindless commentator who will tell you how wonderful you are and show you score a goal or the five minutes you played well in the sixty games you played that season. INGERLAND,INGERLAND ,INGERLAND!

Typical question from a Jock

Hate the fact that the English actually managed to win the World Cup once even though it was 40 Yrs ago.

Just bitter because Scotland cant even qualify for it......eh son? :-)

Do you think that Uruguians have forgotten that they have won it twice? I don't. Umm, before you start moaning about our pundits...Alan Hansen, he's one of yours...Desailly, about as English as baguettes...Martin O'Neill, I don't care if your Prod/Celt he is a legend!

All in all your arguement is pathetic. Now let's all laugh at Scotland trying to qualify from a group with both World Cup finalists in for Euro 2008!

I hope so,Im scottish and i live in england,I have seen flags flying from everywhere and im glad theyve been slowly taken down around town due to a over estimated team, their bad perfomance this time will bring them down a peg or two for future tournaments!

The brits will always be patriotic, just like other people will support their own country.

'66 will never be forgotten, as the ... ahem ... "short-memoried" media clowns and fans will tell you - it's only been 40 years afterall...
