I had my first depo shot about 3 weeks ago. Let me say I will NOT ever do this again!!! I have been bleeding for 2 weeks non-stop! I am cramping, lower back horribly! no energy. I have to pee all the time. Im ill, almost screaming at times! I have had a non stop temp. in the 99's. Even 99.9 The nurse seems like this is not the first time she has seen this when I called concerned about me bleeding nonstop. I just now typed in a search engine "depo shot & non stop bleeding", and to my surprise there was so many forums etc. of women complaing aout this same issue. Many worse! Time will tell, but this is pissing me off, bleeding non stop! Sex is not exciting, and life in general seems down! I am here to forewarn you ladies to read before trying this out. I mean read other women, and there experiences! I was stupid and read the pamplet and of course it says all the "good things" about it and very few complications! lol Anyways, I feel a little better bitching this to the world now. :)

You're right. I believe that depo should be taken off the market. I experienced similar side effect to those you are describing, along with weight gain and general craziness (like constant PMS) I spoke to a Dr. who I work with and the subject came up he said " I wouldn't give that shot to my dog"
I guess there a people who do well with it and in some cases don't at have a period at all, so it remains available.

Depo Shot is the absolute worse thing I ever did. I went on it about 5-6 years ago, and I had one injection, so three months later when I was due for my second injection, I went back to the doctor to learn that I have gained 18lbs in three months!!! I was mortified, not too mention for an entire year after I went off of the shot, I had constant bleeding, it was not a lot of blood, but enough to really aggrivate me....instead of a period once a month, I think there was one week out of the month when I didn't have it. I would try some other method of birth control, it seems like it is just not for you.

That happened to me also! But the bleeding did go away after like 2 or 3 months. I was on depo for a year and I had to stop because it was making me very depressed and my psychiatrist recommended to try some other form of birth control. Then it made my periods come like every 2 months only, which was good. I have been off of it for like 3 months now and my periods seem lighter and my depression is better.

I had depo shots for 7 years and I never had any of those problems. I had my first shot and had a little bleeding for a few days, but it went away and I never had a cycle for 7 years. I guess it effects people differently. Sorry you are having a bad time.
