Many times these problems are due to faulty wiring inhouse. Many telephone companies install a test point at the point of entry which when used disconnects all the inhouse wire. Run a new telephone cable from your computer to this point and test how it works. If all is ok then you need to investigate the wiring and telephones inhouse to identify the problem.

If you still have problems you should know: You will also see significant signal quality problems when you are an extended distance from the telephone companies swicthing center, and there is not much you can do about this. Some telephone companies like qwest have been using technology that splits bandwidth in half on lines where they do not have enough capacity for the population in the area. Again, not much you can do about it and it is hard to even get this information from them. Finally some ISP's just plain are junk and you may need to change to another.

My suggestion would be to change ISPs.

NetZero & PeoplePC were excelent providers to me - & both charged abt $10/mo.

First, though, swap the telephone cable between the modem and the wall. It could be a bad connector.

I WAS going to say it might be the modem, but twice? Nah.

Make certain to keep your antivirus checker current.
