Basically the cost of the move - food, lodging, transportation, movers. Get estimates from several moving companies and present them with your proposal. Then get reimbursed for the actual costs of food, lodging and transportation to get there - keep the receipts. If your boss wants and exact cost, then calculate mileage, estimate gas, food and lodging add 10% for a contingency and show them that plus the cost of the movers as an estimate.
Good luck!

When my husbands company moved us from Illinois to California, they paid all the moving costs, from the boxes to the moving truck. I had heard, I do not know precisely, but it was in the area of $25K. But we had a huge house, two cars, etc. Like the other posts, it depends where you are now and where you are being moved to, and how valuable of an employee you are. Good Luck!

Depends from where you are moving and to where. Something around $5K is pretty standard. However, remember that the bonus you get for moving expenses can be taxed at up to 48% rate so plan accordingly.

Why would you even move? I live in Oldham County (Lagrange) and have offices in Lexington, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis...
Well anyway... If they want you to go, then you gotta go... I would have them cover it 100%! Make them book a moving company and pay for it themselves. I would also make them cover any deposits for utilities and rentals... Closing cost for a home.... Make sure they are upping your salary.
Steps forward... not backward ya know!

You are going to have to calculate everything out. Find/figure out how much you are going to need for everything first, moving costs, down payments, deposits, food, etc. But usually if you go over what they initially give you, they will reimburse you for the rest. Just make sure and keep EVERY receipt.

Ideally ..they should be covered at actuals. But most companies have policies that set limits by category.. the limits also depend on where you are on their corp ladder... check out with ur HR contact .. and plan accordingly

If it's their initiative, I'd ask them to cover all moving expenses. I do not want to have to cover any of it.
