I'd like to go in September and am more than likely going to NC or SC so that it will be warmer. Any suggestions for beaches, hotels, restaurants, or points of interest are welcome. Thanks.

Check out the Outerbanks of North Carolina. The northern beaches are beautiful and if you have 4-wheel drive you can go looking for wild horses. Heading south you'll get into the really touristy area but that's where a lot of great restaurants are, Mama Kwans, Black Pelican, Awful Arthurs, and many, many more! As you head further south it's more rural, not as many restaurants but the beaches are beautiful. Most of the toursists that travel here rent a house, it depends on how many people. The southern beaches also have 4-wheel drive access to the beach but no horses. There are a lot of old ship wrecks that you can see at low tide. There is also the famous Hatteras Lighthouse.
For accomodations and restaurants I don't have much info from you but if you have a lot of people then rent a house through Remax or go to www.outerbankschamber.com there are plenty of hotels too.

Like the poster above, I totally love the Outer Banks, but if you want to go even further off the beaten path, try Ocracoke Island, which is only reachable by free ferry from the tip of Hatteras or from the mainland of NC. September is perfect there - still very warm temps and ocean. Prices drop after Labor Day too. Not much there, so see everything! Best beaches in the world!
