Tell your friend..

Well, since you still have the cage and everything I would disinfect it..you don't know what the pig died of and don't want to make another potential sick just in case. Call a local pet store and find out how much a Guinea pig is, then when your friend comes home present her with a gift certificate in the same amount. That way she can either get another pig or decide she wants some fish or a Gecko..if she wants the gecko let me know, my roommate moved out and left me his.

Right now, wrap up the pig in a dish towel, put it in a bag, and put it in your freezer..just in case she wants to bury it. Good luck!

This brings back a great memory of when I was about 12. Me and 3 friends "chipped in" to buy a guinea pig together. We would each get to keep him for a week. One day one of the friends said she really needed to talk to the rest of us. She was crying. Then she said the guinea pig died. We all busted up laughing because she was so obviously upset we thought it would be something much worse. We literally laughed for a very very long time and still laugh about it 23 years later. Tell your friend. Be sincere. Let her know you're sorry about it, and I'm sure it'll all be fine. Good Luck

As long as you took good care of it, it's not your fault that it died. Tell your friend what happened. It's not your responsibility to replace the guinea pig, so don't feel that you have to. But let your friend know how bad you feel.

you need to let her know right away so she doesnt come back surprised and upset. did it die of natural causes or was it your fault? it could have just been its time to go. consult your friend when she gets upset, its the least you could do. also, i wouldnt just go buy her a guinea pig, id take her to a pet store and let HER choose because she needs to find one she has a connection with and that she likes. im sure she will appreciate what you are trying to do, and she will realize that you value the friendship. let her know how sorry you are, and be honest. good luck!

I accidently killed my sisters guinea pig ages ago but she got over it. It may hurt for a while but she was about 10 when it happened. There's nothing you can do, seriously. Tell her and she will decide if she wants another one.

just buy a guinea pig that is very identical to that one. that would be easy to do

cherish your friendship. don't let that dead pet ruin it.

visit pet stores until you find one that looks like the one that passed and buy it.

Same thing happened to me when i was left to pet sit a hamster...and she never knew the difference.

Just tell her you're sorry. Ask her what you can do to help (buy a new one, bury it, let her hit you) And let everyone know that it's probably not a good idea to let you petsit anything anymore.
