I believe selfishness is the root of all evil. Whenever there is a problem between people it is because someone is being selfish somehow, someway. Jealousy stems from selfishness. We are all somewhat selfish, so we are all somewhat prone to jealousy.
It's primeval, in my opinion.

Jealousy is a manifestation of fear. Fear of lose, fear of rejection, fear.....
The real question is what do you do about jealousy when it arises in you. Do you act on it, or do you suppress it and hope it goes away? Or if you are like me, you confront it head on and discover the reason you are afraid. Having done that, recognize that the only true condition of life is love. If you know this, then jealousy cannot enter your heart, for it does not belong to GOD, and by extension, you.

I think it has something to do with our primal nature. Wild animals might fight each other for certain territory, and the stronger will win it. In our society though, we have laws and rules that stop us from just taking what we want when we see somebody else with it. So maybe jealousy is a natural product of that. Man, I would love to just walk into a mansion and beat up the owner and then live there. Course, then I would probably have roving bands of marauders wandering in and trying to kick my ***.

If jealousy is not envy....envy is to want for others thing, jealousy is pre anger or anger before intruder or competitor is after your happiness. People who do not care for your happiness take what is yours or try to. The more you love what you have the more jealous possible. It is not rationable. But to love a person is to want them happy from you, so what to do. Nothing? Love is not rationable, so relax and go for a run to work it off. Run to work off fear too.
Envy is a culture of material wealth value thing. It is sold you to believe. If they believe, what do I do. Buy and want what makes you happy for practical reasons, not social reasons....be yourself.

Not in me. But alot of people have self esteem issues and cant accept being equal to another person. they let politics, economics, belief systems dictate that one group or race or social class is better than the other. unfortunately this cycle keeps going and going and...............

It's human nature! - people always want things they can't have, have a hard time obtaining, or they just want it to fit in with the crowd.
