Even though rewashing them will get rid of the smell it will not get rid of the Bacteria. I've done this Myself a few times and because the bacteria from the mildew would stay in the clothes my partner was starting to get a rash. What you should do is Rewash them with a nice thick heavy detergent and instead of sticking them in the dryer if you are able to Place them in the sun and just let them bake. The sun light and the heat will kill the bacteria in the clothes it has something to do with all of those UV Rays Serious

Don't get to stressed out, just fill the washer and put in soap with some Clorox for colors or Clorox for whites or if they are dark, you can rewash with Cheer for darks. Then let them soak for about a half hour and then wash as usual. They should be fine.

You should rewash them. Before you rewash the clothes, you should run a wash cycle with nothing but a cup of vinegar in the water. It'll get rid of odors in the washing machine itself. Plus it'll get rid of soap scum build up. Then rewash the clothes as usual, but add a cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle. NO, your clothes won't smell like vinegar. It'll do wonders for your clothes. I do it all the time.

Wash them again. It's really the only answer. Or actually, just put them through another rinse cycle with lots of softener.
