I bought a used car and the rear door will not open. I believe that the child safety lock is stuck on and won't disengage from the outside. I have tried taking the door mostly off and I can not figure out how to pop it open from the inside...i have a 1998 dodge stratus, 2.4cyl. does anyone know please...it is driving me crazy. Thanks

I am assuming it is only one door and not both...
The safety lock shouldn't prevent it from opening from the outside unless something is broken or unhooked inside the door.
You will have to remove the inner trim panel from the door to get access to the inside of the door.
This can be extremely difficult with the door closed, you may have to remove the rear seat and some interior trim to get enough room to remove the panel. It is quite possible that the linkage rod going to the outside handle has become disconnected and the child lock is set.

Inspect the other door to see if you can slide something similar to a butter knife past the weatherstrip on the inside to trip the safety lock lever. (possible on some cars, not on others)

On the end of the door where the pin slides into the latch. There is a lever to lock and unlock child security. Again...open the door and look on the END. Good luck

many times on maximum vehicles that have newborn lock, in case you open the door it, on the component of it, it could have a touch change that permits you to place newborn lock on or off. and that i do no longer think of you may disable the domicile windows from rolling down each of how. some vehicles back domicile windows are only made that way, you won't be able to disable it. Sorry!! wish I helped! :)
