Yes, August tends to be busy with kids out school. If you are going toward the end of the month, it might not be as bad. You'll want to keep one thing in mind while you're there: "I can't fight the crowds, I have to work around them." If you keep this in your head at all times, you won't get frustrated.
For example, take advantage of the afternoon showers! When it starts to rain, pull out your poncho (that you've already purchased at Wal Mart or Target before your trip) and run to your favorite ride. Typically, people panic when it rains and get out of line to head for shelter. Watch our for lightining, of course, but you'll most likely walk onto your favorite rides.

It kind of depends when you will be going. Generally, you are better of going late August. Simply because people are trying to get last minute vacations in before kids go back to school. So, if you go in the beginning of August you have huge crowds and heat to deal with.

But, since Disney has offered several promotions for the end of August, I don't think there is going to be much break in the crowds. They first had the free dining, and now discounted rooms. Free dining really brings in the people, I expect it will be packed.

According to Disney... April 23 to August 26 is "Regular Season" and August 27 to October 4 is "Value Season" and Feb. 16 to April 22 is "Peak" and of course "Holiday" in Dec. So it could be worse, but I'm sure it's ALWAYS busy.

Most likely. It is usually a little better if you go after Labor Day, most kids are back in school!

But here is a tip: If it starts to rain, don't leave the park. Many rides are indoors. A lot of people leave, then the park is a bit less crowded. I have gone several times and found this to be true.

(Of course, if the park is evacuated due to a hurricane, well, safety first!)

Yep, I'll be there! I'm going the 1st through the 11th. I always go in August, just because it's the most convenient time for me. I love it, though. I don't care about the crowds... I don't find them any worse than they are in November, and I keep hearing that's one of the best times to go because crowds are supposedly smaller. So don't let the crowds stop you!

Have fun... I will be!

Yes August is the time of year when it is the hottest. Lots of people go because it is much less costly to go then. I hope you are staying in one of their hotels. If you aren't it will take forever to get into the park.

Disney is always crowded. Summer especially, since all the kids are on summer vacation. There, you will always find tourists from other countries, no matter what time of year it is. But yes, summer is the busiest time of year.

Do the theme parks in the AM when it's not so hot. Go to the water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and the snowy one) in the afternoon. There wil be long lines...bring hats and sunscreen and water to drink
