It is probably a planters wart you have to have it surgically removed it has a root that is very deep and that needs to come out or it will grow back, and it can reproduce.

try to put a corn remover on it. they sell them at the store. they have a cushioned pad and it is resistent to the bath tub. leave it on for a few days. the stuff in the remover will make the skin softer and it will pull off like a scab and hopefully it does not come back. I've had these and the corn removers are chaaper than an doctor. and it esoft pad will take the pain or discomfort away from your foot.

Wort = raw materials for making beer.
Wart = viral infection that produces a raised growth on the skin
You can get rid of it with liquid nitrogen or 60% salicylic acid. Either of these a doctor has and when you are there, he can put it on for you.

That is what is called a plantar's wart. Yes, they do hurt, and they can spread. Warts are actually viruses that enter your body through a cut in the skin. The virus then spreads. Here are a few home remedy sites I found that might be helpful.

Go get the over the counter wart remover pads. Otherwise, get some duct tape. (I KID YOU NOT!!) Cut a piece to cover the wart and stick it on there. Don't take it off. When it falls off, put more on. It'll take a couple weeks, but the wart'll go away.

You can go to the first aid section of a store, that's usually where they have over the counter wart treatments. Or, just go to a doctor and have it frozen off. I had some warts on my feet froze off at the doctor's and they never came back.

Dr. Scholl's makes some great products. Their FreezeOff works for small warts on feet, in addition to common hand warts. If that doesn't work (or you don't want to treat it yourself) call your doctor. They can usually take care of it in one visit.
Whatever you do - don't poke at it. That will only make it worse.

I work for a derm. we advise using duct tape for one week and rest for one day and see how the wart is doing, it might come off then. If not try again for 3 days...check it. If that doesn't work see a derm.
