the 2004 is a little new for that but I can tell you that I have a 2000 grand prix and 2000 gmj jimmy and have had to replace both bearings on both cars. Not sure if they are prone or just mileage. 160k miles on jimmy and 97k on grand prix. Hope you can do tehm yourself you will save a bundle. I did mine myself and saved around $400 for both vehicles combined. The grand prix bearings were $75 a piece and the jimmy were $100 a piece.

They all give problems these days as they are roller bearings and not tapered bearings. Plus, the grease doesn't circulate very well. You have to use lots of molley grease. Usually once ever 100K or 150K you'll have to replace the front ones on a FWD vehicle. Good luck.

What the hell you do to these vehicles. Bearings are bearings there all alike in all vehicles. They usually last along time.
