It really depends on what perspective you are looking at. Sociobiologist believe that all our aims in life, all our desires and interactions are based upon the unconscious desire to have sex and reproduce. This would fail to explain, however, gay relationships, and relationships that are entered into without the desire to reproduce- Freud would say it is all in the unconscious though.

No, Reproduction is about sex, Life is about consuming other life.
Think about it, in order to survive, all living things need to absorb energy from other living or recently living things. Be it plant or animal.
Survival means consuming other life. Matter is merely energy condensed into a slow vibration. Energy cannot be destroyed, it merely changes form. life is about sucking energy out of things to survive.
How you suck energy is the key to happiness when alive.
If you really want to talk scientifically, I could ramble on about how you don't even exist, all life is an illusion, The universe is a hologram, you are the manifestation of your subconscious beliefs. Infinate love is the only truth, everything else is an illusion.
If you wnat to get into human needs, real needs, physical survival needs, then I can go for my whole life without having sex. I don't want to, but I could.
I could go for a few days without food, but cou could not go for a few minutes without breathing.
So I would say that sex, although fun and necessary for the continuation of the species, is not about sex, but about survival, through breathing, and eating and drinking. beyond that we can get into what motivates us.
I would say that it comes down to 2 things, the fear that we may not be good enough, or that we may not be loved.

Not exactly ALL about sex. More like reproduction. The sex is pleasurable so we'll do it. If we didn't like the sex, we probably wouldn't do it, so we wouldn't reproduce. Men are programed to want to do it all the time. If we didn't or weren't, we miss the few days a month that fertilization (in the female) was possible. The species would soon die out.
sex itself is not needed for reproduction. But the genetic diversity that results from bi-sexual reproduction provides a competitive advantage for unforeseen environmental hazards in the future. This will more likely result in the species propagating.

Life is a multi-faceted concept. Life may refer to the ongoing process of which living things are a part; the period between the birth (or a point at which the entity can be considered to be living) and death of an organism; the condition of an entity that has been born (or reached the point in its existence at which it can be established to be alive) and has yet to die; and that which makes a living thing alive.
Sex of Love views humans in relationship to one another as atoms in the atomic universe. We are packets of energy: Energy that is becoming Conscious of Itself. This is Life. Our story, our history is but getting started. Beauty = Sex of Love asserts that seeking Beauty is a major determinant in the "fitness" that directs Evolution.
thus sex is just but a part of life

I don't know about scientifically but our base instincts are the same as any animal eat drink sex sleep, but we are separated from animals by conscious thought. We can become addicted to sex on a superficial level where we crave the sensation constantly but that's not why we are here we are not only sexual beings we are also intelligent, emotional and physical. hope that helps

That depends on whether or not you consider psycology a science. Physically and biologically, the answer is yes. However, when you get into the mind (and soul, if you believe in those), you have other elements to consider. For example, there's What-his-name's pyramid of self-actualization. In that analysis, you could say that if your other needs (food, shelter, etc, including sex) are being satisfied, you're ready to move on to other things. That would imply that there IS more to life than sex.
That, however, is psycology. If you ask me, psycology is much closer to philosophy than it is to science. Make of that what you will.

It seems to be that way from about 14 until 50, then the human finds other uses for their time effort and energies. Thank you for making such an astute observation.

Yes, or how would there be life at all? But that doesn't mean it has to be our sole concern because we need to have an interesting life in between!

Scientifically sex is a sign of death.
Only a well grown organ will search it's sex partner.
That means................. Ja............... I am going to die,and before that I must reproduce my offsprings. engage in sex.
