Less Heat, less mechanical parts (therefore less failure), and they are smaller.

In no particular order;
#1 They run much much cooler.
#2 They are way less expensive
#3 They handle a lot more instructions.
#4 They are much lighter.
#5 They are way easier to manufacturer.
#6 They are not as subject to breakage.

Easy to replace. Does not get hot. Not made of glass, so not likely to break into a million pieces.
