Trend Micro is an excellent program. If you are going to use it, then get the Package. I use the TrendMicro Housecall online scan site once a month to scan my computer. The only major Security companies that I trust completly is Trend Micro and Computer Associates. Both are excellent and provide excellent programs that are worth every penny.
You can use only one Anti-Virus program. More than one will conflict with each other and not protect you. More than one can also do physical damage to your computer.
Anti-Spy programs are a diffenent story. You can use several at one time and should use them. Trend Micro, Microsoft, CA and others estimate that 1500 new spyware and adware programs are put on the Internet every month. No single AS program or company can keep up with all of the new stuff and update your program. Having at least 3 anti-spy programs running all the time provides excellent protection. I recommend you add Window Defender Beta 2 and Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are free and are excellent. When doing the initial set up of Spybot look for a box where it says to turn on Tea Time. This will allow Spybot to run full time. WDB2 will also run full time. I use them along with the Package AS program from CA.
Both WDB2 and Spybot can be downloaded at this site. It is safe and guarntee safe downloads. I use it and never got infected by a download from them.

Depends; if you have dial-up connection it is constantly asking to download "new components". Sometimes 2-3 times a day!. And it makes everything even slower while it is downloading.

It is a great program. It takes up very little sysytem process time and is very good at wiping out and defending viruses. if its too pricey for you go with Symantec AntiVirus (DO NOT BUY SYMANTEC SECURITY CENTER)
If you want free: use AVG Antivirus

It works, but Avast! is free and has better protection, auto-update, and smaller memory footprint.
