I think alot of them are still young. Let them get into college and start thinking for themselves. Some will stay Conservative, others will become free thinkers. My generation were pretty much Liberals because of the repressive attitude we were raised under. I have faith that these kids will at some point do the same thing. And then their kids will go the opposite. It's just the way life is. Heck I'm a Liberal Democrat and both of my sons are Republicans what can I say I speak from experience

I went to a public high school and I was a rare Conservative in the class, but when I went to college, I met a lot of people who shared my beliefs-so I'm not sure which way young America actually swings, and I can only answer for myself personally. I am a Conservative because I looked at both parties and found myself agreeing with Republicans more than Democrats. I am a Conservative because my thoughts, morals, and ideas are more in line with the right side of politics. I don't believe in hand-outs, but I believe hard work should be rewarded. I take a hard stand on issues such as the death penalty, gun control, abortion, and terrorism, and I believe in eye for an eye. I look at the recent Democrats in history and I want to laugh and cry because I believe they harmed America greatly (Carter, Clinton). I look at the Democratic candidates that were offered to America, and I don't understand who they are or what they stand for. But I know what I stand for, and what I stand against, and I ended up swimming on the right side of the pool.

The young Americans that I know that are conservative are so because they've never heard another opinion besides that. Mom and Dad and Fox News are all they've ever been exposed to. And they've never had to live on their own, so they really haven't experienced life and understood how the real world is.
I'm not saying every single one is like this, but definitely a majority.

Most Americans are conservative; the ones who aren't are usually the ones who have "nothing" and want the government to give everything to them.
Look what happened in South Africa after the political changes .
sometimes even if the way things are, is not perfect, it's still better then change.

I think that slowly people are starting to understand that using the guns of government to force other people to do what they want is not the way to run a country. Laws create criminals, even when those people are your brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers.

People are becoming aware that freedom is the way to go. Everyone I ever talk to wants more freedom for themselves, but backs off when I suggest that others shoudl have the same freedom they want. Then they slowly understand that the only way to have personal freedom is to have societal freedom.

This means that we have to quit stealing other people's money in the form of taxes to fund our pet projects. Instead, we have to convince people that our ideas are sound and ask them to fund our charties voluntarily instead of at the point of a gun.

We have to allow people to make their own choices of what medicines to take, and what foods to eat, instead of forcing them to accept what the government mandates.

These are just the beginning steps of what people are slowly awakening to, because they are slowly understanding that the last 200 years have done nothing to advance freedom. Instead, they have slowly driven us down the spiralling road to the tyrannical government we have today. A government responsible for Ruby Ridge, Waco, the Oklahoma City Bombing, and two WTC attacks.

THAT is why young people are finally putting aside the government school propaganda and using their brains to wonder how people justify forcing others to do their will via government.

What the heck are you talking about? Do you live in the South?? From what I can tell, there are way more bleeding heart liberals out there these days. Just take a walk on almost any university campus. Quite a few students in this country are exposed to pushy leftist views of faculty members, which only encourage the liberal mafia...

It would help if you had a cite for this survey you are referring to. I am betting it is just your opinion.

But to answer your question - most young Americans are not politically conservative. Most young Americans are not politically conscious even. Have you seen the latest voter demographics?

I know that I'm conservative because I got tired of all the Liberal brainwashing that my family and school system was telling me. Besides they believe in similar things that I believe, which helped tons. When I was younger though I was a liberal. Thank God I opened my eyes and saw the light.

Those are the ones who study the political parties and they can
see the difference in all of them. They are probably going to
private schools and not the public school system which is mostly
of the liberal mindset.

I think there are far more young americans who are disillusioned or just don't give a damn about "boring politics" than those who call themselves conservative.
