Really, if a woman over 35 is physically healthy, doesn't suffer from sterility, had no miscarriages, her chances to give birth to a normal, healthy baby are almost the same like a 20 year old girl has. Also, women who have their last child after age 35 cut their risk of ovarian cancer in half, a new study shows.

I think it is wierd to give birth after 50 years of age, but I know a lot of people who have given birth at 35.

35 is not that big of a deal any more. There are a few additional tests that will be run to ensure the health of the fetus. But these days women are bearing children into their forties.
Once you pass 30 your chance of becoming pregnant begins to decrease dramatically. But with proper prenatal care you should be fine. Congrats!

What do you want to know? Post some specifics...
If you're worried about problems or health risks then make an appointment with a midwife and she'll talk through everything with you.
Unless you have existing health problems, 35 is a perfectly good age to have a child.

There's nothing wrong with that. That is a point in most people's lives where they are relatively comfortable financially and can handle the responsibility. Congratulations. The birth of a child is always wonderful news.

my twins were born just after I turned 35. Healthy and at 37 1/2 weeks. and then I had my son at just after I turned 38 at 9lbs 10 oz.
It just didn't happen before that. Love them so so much. Best thing to happen to me.

I wouldn't think it is a problem people are now having babies over 50. So 35 seems pretty young!

There is risk to having a child at that age but it can be done without problems. My cousin had her first child at 39 without any problems. There were more doctor visits during the pregnancy to make sure everything was going right.

If you trust your ob-gyn, you have nothing to worry about. Of course, it would help a lot if you are healthy and have an active lifestyle. Don't worry too much. We have advanced medicine now. The mortality rate of childbirth in western societies is almost nil. Goodluck. And don't worry too much. You'll be just fine.
