Is it immediately frowned upon or are your views, which are too far gone for even Democrats, frowned upon? Ahhhhh, THERE'S the rub.

Your last paragraph actually answered your question. There is no liberal party in the US. The questions are frowned upon due to the hypocrisy of the question or the asker themself. The "Liberal" asker is generally looking for policy that will benefit them...They have large medical bills so they think health care is a main issue. They have been stuck in the same crappy job for years so the government needs to redistribute wealth ( but have they thought about taking night classes to improve their education to get ahead??? no).
So the "Liberal" point of view is not self sacrifice it is raping the rich to pay to better their own lives.
Free education and social welfare are a reality in the US, and both sides agree with it. The "poor" in this country are far better off than in most countries.

Most of the people are afraid of anyone who is a free thinker and anyone that opposes the status qua I agree that just because someone does not support a right wing state of mind that they are against the country Quite the opposite I think they are looking for ways to better this country for the good of all people not just a select few which seems to be the policy and views of the current administration and it's supporters

That's because most of the Republicans have drank the koolaid. And they also vote against their best interest. Who cars if health care costs have gone up 70% since 2001, we can't let gays get married! Hundreds of thousands of jobs and complete factories are being sent overseas, but we have to change the Constitution to protect the flag! This country was founded on liberal values! most of the founding fathers where liberals. In fact George Washington said "As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality." Caring for the poor, the sick, the infirm is not only a liberal issue but a moral issue. Health care was once affordable, but when it went from a non-profit system to a for-profit system, the cost started rising. People like Bill Frist's family started buying Community Hospitals and cut costs and raised prices. And the Frist chain of hospitals is one of the largest abortion providers in America. Go figure.

The lean to the right in this country is a natural progression from the failed policies of Johnson and Carter and Clinton.
********NOTHING IS FREE*************
Only free to those who don't want to pay. I've never seen a nurse say"oh, you don't have to give me a paycheck this week" but she wants free health care. Liberals are two faced and don't consider who foots the bill.
Hospitals don't work for free and the guy who makes the equipment doesn't give them away!! Where is their compassion?
Ever think about that? So healthcare can't be free. Unless you are taxed at about 80%...no one wants that either. That's why socialism eventually fails.

First of all: "to put the price of human life greater than the value of money" is pure propaganda.
Secondly, Republicans and Democrats are both alike - they are both left wing as they spend our tax dollars senselessly with a socialist mentality.
And we do care about each other - we don't want each other depending on a potential malevolent government for a thing. Period

as you can see... there is A LOT OF PROPAGANDA out there that simply isn't true... but they all believe it's easier than admitting that you may be wrong... and doing research is not something most people do...
the economies of the countries aren't in shambles, that I have seen.. the tax rate is higher, but we also pay an enormous amount in insurance costs, that usually only cover a percentage of the total... it's doubtful that the tax increase would surpass the average cost of insurance for most...
the healthcare system is breaking down in the U.S.... it's clear... more an more are dropping insurance, since it's going up so much every year, so more and more are defaulting on bills, making the costs for everything else go up even more... it's only a matter of time now...

Free health care? Are you nuts? Do you have any clue how much that program costs? They get their butts taxed to the hilt every payday. We still enjoy some of the least expensive gas prices here in the US compare to around the world and people are screaming like banshees. Most of these liberals would have a flipping heart attack if they ever got hit with the tax bill to support a government run health service with as much incompetence as the rest of social services we have out there. No thanks......I'll pay for it myself if I need it.

The difficulties with the general position you outline are that they ignore man's basic nature, which is an incredibly selfish nature. Capitalism harnesses man's selfish nature and leverages it to the benefit of the society as a whole. Anyone seen how socialism harnesses the power of the individual? Can you say Siberia?
Your focus also ignores the concept of resource allocation. Take a few basic economics classes, study your own behaviour and those around you. Open your eyes.

The reason is because so many here know so little about history. They have been told since they were young that any social program by the government is equal to socialism. They have no idea about the rise of socialism and the labor movement and the conditions that caused these ideologies to be born. They don't the difference between socialism and social programs.

Here are a couple of reasons. Socialism hasn't brought millions out of poverty, as capitalism has.
Also, the whole idea of socialism is against the idea of personal liberty. Compelling one person to pay for the care or lifestyle of another is theft. It is wrong, and it is against the idea of freedom.
As for free healthchare, there is no such thing. Those who earn enough to provide for their own healthcare in such a situation also provide healthcare for those who haven't. The government has never, ever paid for anything. Only citizens pay for social programs.
I neglected to add: A government powerful enough to give everyone everything they need also is powerful enought to take it away.
GGARSK, WHAT IS OUR CURRENT RATE OF UNEMPLOYMENT? IT IS A MYTH THAT JOBS ARE BEING "SHIPPED" OVERSEAS. HOW ABOUT THE NEW NISSAN, HYUNDAI, AND HONDA PLANTS?
