I'd imagine that there is a way to pick the lock, however if it is a simple "cam" style lock, you're probably better off just drilling the entire cylinder out with a large drill bit and electric drill, then replacing it with one similar to those carried in most hardware stores or home centers.
These types of locks are also found in desks, filing cabinets, etc. so if it isn't anything strange, you should be able to find a replacement once you get the old one out...

I have used a hairpin and small screwdriver. A lot of lock picking tool kits are being sold right now (and not too expensive) in catalogs and on the web. Mainly you want to find a way to push the little bars back while gently tugging on the "door"

if it is the key for the machine (not a padlock) you have 2 choices.
1) buy a skeleton key (very expensive)
2) call and lock smith and have him rekey it for you
