well if they got an annonymous letter then it was annonymous unless the information on it was privaleged and the person who got fired knew who they had told.... did you think about that part?

Haha, there's no way anyone can answer that. That completely depends on the office politics of your work. Chances are the person would never find out. How would they know who it was? But then, your boss wouldn't know either, and what's to stop him from throwing it away? Why should he believe an anonymous letter like that?

legally no. he would most likely be told that information had been brought to their attention that info he provided was false and inaccurate and grounds for dismissal. they should never tell that person who they got the info from and what they said. not to say it wouldn't happen but professionally that should never be the case. everything should be handled anonymously. since you sent the letter anonymously, how can they tell who sent it? assuming you wrote your own return address on there, they still shouldn't tell him that you were the one who sent it, however, it may turn into office gossip that you did do it. things like that tend to get out regardless of anonymity or not.

Gimmee the letter, I will mail it from here. Why do you feel you can't just tell your boss? everyone handles things differently, hopefully your employer has enough class not to reveal his/her source. Good luck, hon!
