I've had this new IUD for 14 months and I've never had any problems with it so far. I had my yearly physical in May and everything looked good. I have no problems with my period and my last one was normal the last week of june. My abdomen right above my navel sticks out and it feels tight and bloated. I never had this feeling when I was pregnant with my little girl until I was 8 & 9 months so I don't know what the deal is. I'm not having any pain just tightness and bloating and it's not like that everyday just every now and than. It's getting close time for my next period so I pray I'm not pregnant but I'm afraid of something else being wrong. I don't know what all can cause you to feel this way. If anyone has any answers please let me know.

Hey, I've had mine for a little over a year now...with no problems. I do get bloated around the time when I used to start my period, although I don't have a period anymore. So, that may be what's up with you. And if not, it may just be that you need to poo. LOL. Sorry, but that can cause your stomach to get hard like you're discribing.
If you were pregnant, than you would know it. You would be really sick, and end up having a miscarriage. So, don't worry about it....make sure you're taking your fiber, and expect the bloating around the time you started before you got the IUD.

i have the paragaurd iud it is the same shape and size of the mirena, but mine is hormoneless.i haven't had any problems with it, and i love mine. i also have two children and it sounds like may be you are just constipated. i have the same problems, sometimes it gets so bad it could feel as if you were really pregnant. you should watch what you eat, not to much sugar and watch your stress level. i have never heard of anyone getting pregnant on an iud recently. good luck!

ive had mine since december 2003...i like it and have no problems either....i never get periods anymore and never worry about pregnancy...but i have to say sometimes i feel like i just felt the feeling of a baby move (u know that feeling) but i am not bloated or anything....hmmm if i was u i would wait to see about my period, and if no syptoms come up, then i would do an at home preg. test and go from there...
