All I can say is the answers above sound like they are from kids who don't know any better. Embryonic stem cells are babies made in a petrie dish. Stem cells are also taken from other parts of the body. Why aren't they doing more studies on the persons own cells instead of embryos. To listen to the senators etc talk. Some of them have no idea what they are talking about. There is HYPE on what these cells can do. THERE IS NO CONCRETE evidence that the embryonic cells do any good. No one has been cured YET. If you have scientific evidence you need to show it. It is all hype. As I said there is other stem cell research going on and I have invested in them but not in the embryonic cells. That is tampering with God's work and creation.

For the misinformed, here is a link to a NIH (National Institutes of Health) article that explains how embryonic stem cells are not from fetuses, and are just a group cells formed right after a sperm fertilizes an egg. A microscope is needed to identify these stem cells! They are just cells! You cannot get embryonic stem cells from fetuses. It is too late to extract stem cells when you have a fetus.

Perhaps it is a little of both. To be fair, though, I will say they are misinformed. Just on this thread, people are claiming these embryos are created to be destroyed. Wrong. There is a surplus of already formed embryos created for the purposes of fertility treatment, in excess of clinical need and obtained after the consent of the donating couple.
