I see postings on discussion boards all the time, asking for audition/performance song suggestions. What people seem to forget is that what makes a song right for you is your voice and personality, the two things that other people cannot see over the internet! Although people can certainly tell you what has worked for them and give you some starting points for your search, if you want a truly great song, you'll have to find it yourself. You know yourself much better than we do.

Take into account your strengths and weaknesses, so that you can choose something that shows off one and hides the other. Also take into account the type of accompaniment you are supposed to have - if you need to find pre-recorded accompaniment, this may influence your decision.

Most importantly, the song should reflect your own musical preference and style. You haven't even mentioned in your question what style of music you would like to sing. I think that decision is the first one you need to make.

Finally, I would hope that if you are this serious about singing you will have a vocal instructor. Any experienced singing teacher should be well versed in vocal repertoire and should be able to help you find something that shows off the best you have to offer.

Good luck!

You might want to go with a musical classic. For example:
-Part of Your World (from Disney's the Little Mermaid)
-Tomorrow (from Annie)
-Where is Love? (from Oliver)
-My Own Little Corner (from Cinderella)
-A Whole New World (from Disney's Aladdin)

There are a lot of good ones, those are just examples off the top of my head. Good luck.
