It could be:

Hormones you are taking, like birth control pills or shots.

Not a period at all but an early miscarriage.

A new growth in your genital tract like uterine fibriods.

An infection that is causing your linings to become weak.

Or a lot of other problems. You really need to see your Ob/Gyn. Remeber that just the bleeding itsself could lead to dangerous anemia. You really need help to get to the bottom of this

DUB - dysfunctional uterine bleeding can occur at any age.

Ask your doctor for a saliva hormone test before allowing any use of birth control pills to regularize your period. I got a Depo-Provera shot (the 3 months birth control shot) and it tipped me from low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) into diabetes.

It is possible that high insulin production post partum may be a partial cause of your current problem. You may want to ask the doctor to check for that too, with a fasting blood insulin test.

I, later on, consulted with my health food store lady, and was successfully using wild yam cream (natural progesterone) to control my DUB, without need for birth control pills.
