People became all about themselves(me me me) and making themselves "better". They fooled themselves into believeing to be better they must be "right" and to be right everyone else must either agree or be "wrong" so they set out to prove everyone else is wrong.
Not realizing that all the argueing and having to be right is a weekness. Those who are strong in there belief know that it is enough to know you are right. Others do not have to agree.
