If an older model (1970s?) dorm fridge is transported on its back for 2-4 hours, how long should it stand upright before you plug it in?
What if it was on its back for 12 hours?
Any advice is appreciated.

The correct answer is 24 hours. I've repaired way too many that didn't get that treatment!
BTW; If it really is from the '70s you'll find that it's an energy hog. Even though it's costlier up front to buy a new one the monthly savings on your electric bill will pay for a new one in less than a year.

The amount of time the refer was on it's back doesn't matter. The time between standing it up and plugging it back in does. Most manufacturers recommend 24 hours. This is so all the oil returns back to the compressor.

I suppose the 24 hr. thing is right. In any event, when I worked at a moving company, it was left upright for as long as it was transported on its back. 2 hrs. = 2 hrs., etc.
