Depends where your working tho, and we all can't stop work cause its hot, lol everywhere would be closed and where would we get food from? if that happened, anyway its cooler inside than it is outside, but i guess if u worked in mcdonalds or something like that you would be really sweating.

I do think that the managers of workplaces should try to acquire fans or AC units from local rental shops and then at least we would be happy that they have tried.
I took my own fan into work today. I(I work in a school) My classroom was 85degrees with the doors / Windows open and the 26inch fan going all day. next door has no fan and they have more children!

I think we can stay it out. It will not last.

definitely.

sitting in a room with no air-con and people sweating is just gross.

We had someone die from heat exhaustion where i work, so its a definite problem.
And no, I dont work in a bakery or somewhere else thats hot like a laundry.

And while we are having this heatwave we are still NOT ALLOWED to drink water while on duty, not allowed to loosen our ties, not allowed desk fans and we have to wear our thick polyester uniforms. A lot of us have been popping out on our break to get ice creams and lollies, and weve been told not to eat them on company property - ie, even outside of the building!!

All because the company has an image to uphold.

Sod the image, show the customers that we are human too!

No wonder we are all calling in sick!

Get a small desk fan. Buy a hat. Soak the inside with some water...put the hat on, and sit in front of the fan. Or, get a small spray mister. When water evaporates, it cools. If you work in a place where it'd be acceptable to dunk your head under the water faucet, do that, too. Better yet, convert your desk into a personal swimming pool. Perfect break between phone calls!

It's a problem coz with so many of our workplaces not properly air conditioned, the country might grind to a halt!

So I'd say no!

just get on with it it won't last!

I would say that before you work for a company you know if you'll be in sweltering heat or nice a/c. If you are not bright enough to use your best judgement before getting hired somewhere... bring a FAN!
