It depends on whether you have access to a beach or not. Almost any activity you can do in your backyard you can do there (sunbathing, BBQ, picnic, party games, et al).
Dig up the CD player and find some music that suits your target crowd; the youth usually like to dance.
And if you do have access to a beach or dunes, get the sand toys; sandcastles are usually a big hit. Also, check the link:

okay here is a game called wet and dry dog.....
you have a partner who is wet(in the Pool) and a dry partner(who doesn't want to get we). You get some object's that sink like the ones they sale at wal-mart or anything that is about the size of a shoe or a hand. They have a goal to dive under and get the other person's objects. all need to have the dame number of thing and they all need to know what objects they have so that they are not to get them. There dry partner throughts there items in with the face of there partner is looking at them and not the pool. They must get as many item that are not there's. who gets the most wins! if they pick up one of there items they lose an item. Fun to play with 2 couples or a whole pool full. Just keep kids with kids and adults with adults. If you mix them then have them in the shallow end of the pool to help the kids. I hope you think this is fun .......good luck

Waterballoon toss (perfect for non-swimmers b/c they still get wet), cannonball contest (those not participating can judge), races. Make sure you have tables w/ umbrellas (or some sort of shade) set up so that people can be outside where the party is without dying from the heat...misters would be nice for this also. Have games (cards, etc.) set up on the table. For in the pool you could do a dance contest, or a tip contest (one person is on the raft, and the other person tries to tip them over - one or both could be blindfolded.) I hope this helps, and good luck!!
