It will depend on the girl. Even if she is open minded and wouldn't mind being your friend, living with someone is a completely different story. Just be honest with her. I wouldn't make "I'm a lesbian" the first words out of your mouth but definitely on the first or second day.
Promise her you won't change clothes in front of each other and you will respect her wishes if anything makes her uncomfortable.
Good Luck and be open minded...college is tons of fun!!!

It should not be an issue. Regardless of preference, your room is a place to study and live, hence living with a person who has a different orientation should not be a problem. If one or the other decides to act out sexually with a partner, the best result is to have a private room. An issue could arise if your roommate is a flaming homophobic but other than that, you will probably have a wonderful experience.

Why would you like to share a room with another person? I'm sure there are dormitories where you could also have your own room. If it bothers you that much, you could try to spend more time in the library and just go back to your room when you are about to hit the bed.

I shared a room with a lesbian when I was in the university. She was out most of the time, so I barely felt her presence. We also set out boundaries. Like I told her that I prefer to be alone in the room when I am changing clothes. She was matured about it, and respected me. Just avoid being in a situation where you and your future roomie will be conscious about your sexualities. So, no staring. And no lustful looks.

nah that would be fine with me. I'm sure a lot of girls would feel uncomfortable. Does she know already that you are gay? Don't feel hurt if she decides to switch rooms...it might just be the way she was raised.

I hope you get an open minded roommate (or another lesbian who is really cute :P )

As long as she were upfront with me about it and we understood each other's boundaries... I don't see a problem with that. I think you would probably not want her to bring dates back to your room and she would probably agree that she wouldn't want your dates to come back to the room either. You should both agree to keep your room you share as a place to study and sleep. :) When you get to know each other better, the 'room' rules will naturally ease up. But I think it's important that you talk things out so there are no questions. :) Good luck at college!

If you were my roommate I'd be a bit worried. I can't say that I don't care because I'd feel uncomfortable. I prob. wouldn't mind as long as I get my privacy and all.

I would not care as long as you knew that I was straight and did not have a problem with that. I have some friends that are both gay and lesbian and I get along with all of them great. People should not have a problem with it.

For sure! However, you can talk about your girl/share things that maybe you couldn't with a "hetero" roommate! I hope your girl isn't the jealous type!

GOOD LUCK!

Have you checked out GLBT community resources at the school? Typical campuses have groups, and you may can find a roomie hook-up that way. Good luck, and study hard!

I think it would perturb me a little bit, however, if she didn't try to impose her views or else! on me then it wouldn't be too bad. Best of luck gal!!
