Like "ur", "lyke", and "hott"? It's not clever and it's getting really old...and irritating. It promotes illiteracy. People make the excuse "because it saves time", but HOW DO YOU SAVE TIME BY TYPING "LYKE" AND "HOTT"? I mean, maybe it was cool back in the 80's because then it was new, like with Prince spelling the to's in his song titles with 2's, but now it just looks so pathetic. It's the type of crap that appeals to those people who still say "da bomb" and dot their I's with hearts.

I think that some just really don't know how to spell.
Some of the grammar is horrible as well.
But as far as the acronyms, that does get a bit old after a while.

people do whatever. unless its for a term paper or a real presentation, then live and let ,live. I hate when people are picky

words like "lol , u,nvm, and ur" save time.
other than that, i dont know about the "lyke or hott"
and besides that,
Gaming affects it too.
you can talk in online games in "1337" = "LEET"
because it saves time and is a new look. (because everything is getting boring)

R u a English Teacher? you are correct people must learn to spell words. I think nobody uses spell check. But I always do. if anybody has doubt then check my answers. Anybody wants to take challenge. find such miss spelled words in my answers. No way.

Most people type their answers fast to try to be the first to answer, and some are just too lazy to use the spell checker.

it makes them FEEL clever and if the other person has too ask what it means it makes them feel superior. kind of an insider thing ya know. only cool people know what it means. does that sound about right?
