I honestly cannot see why people consider it ethical. It is basically the legal murder of babies. I understand that women have the right to their bodies, but when a women gets pregnant, there are two bodies instead of one.
What I really don't understand is that the same people that are for abortion are against the death penalty. Why is it that convicted criminals have the right to live but innocent babies do not?
People need to take responsibility for their actions. If you have sex and get pregnant, it is your responsibility to take care of the baby.

I agree, women should have the option to abort if it is a rape case, but there are proceedures you can get done to ensure you won't get pregnant.

I almost forgot to say, I also think it should be allowed when the mother's life is in danger.

i think the only case where abortion should be legal is a rape case. it's still wrong, but it's different. i hate when women say that they 'can do what they want with their bodies' because it's not really THEIR body we're talking about, it's the baby's.
thats my input

I actually agree with your last. If you have sex and produce child, you should be responsible. However, if you choose to do otherwise you should be free to do so.
If you consider an egg to be a baby then you should be arrested every month when after you have your period. If you are on the pill you are not allowing that egg to grow to it's full potential, therefore you are aborting a pregnancy. If you have sex in that month and did produce a fertilized egg then you have wasted a potential life.
Why should a stranger in a big white building in Washington, DC tell you when you have to bring a life into this world, get a boob job, or suck the fat from your backside.
Choosing not to have a child or any other medical procedure is your business. If you don't like abortions, then don't have one. If you don't like Howard Stern, don't get Sirius.
I actually believe in the death penalty, while some believe that you can only kill another after they have taken your first breath and have become a problem.

I do not support abortion however there must be exception to the rule if a woman is raped or it is a matter of the life of the mother I do support abortion as being an option. Before abortion was legal it was still being done illegally in by people who were untrained. It would be safer if we allowed abortion because it could save women's lives who would of had an abortion if it was illegal. WE also can't make decisions for other people based on our sense of ethics and morals but most people do believe that killing an innocent life is wrong. I am in favor of the death penalty for your information. There is no way I can support partial birth or late term abortions.

I support it in the cases that the fetus has a fatal disorder or if the mother's life is endanger becuase i've witnessed it first hand. A family friend was pregnant with a baby who's stomach was where her heart was. It was discovered months before she was born. The parents decided not to abort her. Her chance of living to her 1st birthday, with or without treatment was slim. A week after she was born she underwent major surgery. She had to go through surgery every week of her life. She ended up dying during surgery #40 at 40 weeks. Her parents had to file for bankruptcy to pay for the $40 million medical bill. Aside from the money, just seeing her with the surgical marks on her chest and going through all that pain made the parents realize they should have aborted her.

No one is for abortion. Pro-choice is NOT the same thing. Many women would never consider an abortion for themselves, but they recognize the choice is necessary for other women.
As for the procedure, that's for permanent sterilization; what if a woman wants to have children later? There are several birth control methods, however, that should be explored by anyone having sex and not wanting a child at that time.
It's very easy to see the side of pro-life, however when is it determined to be a life? Christianity says conception. But what if you belong to a different religion? It's not right for one religion to dictate everyone's lives, only those who CHOOSE that religion.

One: You need to remember that Yahoo! Answers is not a place for you to get on a soap box and preach your opinions to others. This is enough to get reported for.
Two: Ethics has nothing to do with it. What you are asking is it is Moral.
Three: Think about children who are unwanted and are still born. Does the child of a 14 year old really have a chance for a good life? In my opinion, no. So regardless of whether or not it is murder to abort a fetus (I believe it is not since it has no awareness regardless of it's having a heartbeat or not) the "soul" that pro-lifers argue is already there has a better chance up in heaven waiting for a new fetus to inhabit.

I don't support abortion especially when used a birth control. I don't judge anyone who does it because it is not my place to judge. However I think some of the pro-choice people are irresponsibility for not teaching birth control instead of saying you can have an abortion whenever you want. I am 40 years old and have managed never to have gotten pregnant because I have always used birth control.

I definitely don't support it. If it's going to be legal they need to raise the age limit to like 24. There are a lot of people in the world that would make great abortions right about now.
Smartsassysabrina (see below) should remove the word 'smart' from her screen name. It isn't very accurate. "This is enough to get reported for!" I think I've made my point...

i agree, having an abortion is basically taking an innocent life. The baby did not ask to appear, it was made and wether you like it or not you have to learn to live with them. You can't have both, you have to chose, abortion - Safe sex. Grow up, you should only have unprotected serx if you are trying to have a baby, not if you don't want one, because you are refusing lilfe of an unborn child and who knows what he/she could have done when it grew older....

There is absolutely NO way to rationalize it. Abortion is the killing of another human being. I agree 100% on people needing to take responsibility for their actions. But unfortunatly, there are too many cowards out there who can't.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My stand is if a young lady and man want to engage in intimate affairs, it should be discussed in a mature manner whereas both parties know what they are prepared to handle (or not). To bring a child into the world without any thought but of personal desires is just SELFISH. Think before you act.
