How did the distrubution of the wealth in the world get to be so unequal?

If you actually do search, you might find;

Aproximately 20% of the world owns 80% of the wealth. If you dispersed all the money equally to everybody, within 10 years, 20% would own 80% of the wealth again.
Some people just know what to do with money besides buying ipods with it.

Monetary wealth is created by unseen forces and the ones that benefit from it are the same ones that worked for it (do you think Bill Gates or Ted Turner were couch potatoes?). Also, some people have different ideas of wealth. Many people feel wealthy with lots of money just as many feel happiness is wealth others look at a large family as wealth. But I could surely bet your teacher wanted to focus on the monetary wealth so tell her it happens naturally.
