I think after awhile they probably get bored of seeing it, it becomes actually "work" to look at them! I use to wonder that but why would proctologists wanna play in buttholes all day? I doubt if there are enough female doctors to fill in the gaps if there weren't male gyn's...I guess we need them!

This is a rather sexist question - why are there FEMALE doctors?!
genecology and obstetrics are where life begin (if you want to be philosophical) and one of the more lucrative areas of medicine!
'seeing some vaginas' is a rather shallow way of looking at it...besides they are usually seeing them in a 'so-not-sexy way'!!
If you are uncomfortable seeing a male genecologist ask for a woman - and know that if you DO see a male doctor, a nurse is always present during exams....but these days the nurse may be a MAN!!

Once you're in the medical field a while, it all becomes just "parts" you're looking at. Doctors and other medical professionals get interested in systems on the inside rather than the parts you think they are focusing on the outside. Also, specialties are often chosen on what pays the bills. Podiatrists make crap compared to a lot of other doctors. Why, because no "foot group" has ever lobbied Congress for extensive foot coverage on insurance policies. consequently, there are relatively few podiatrists compared to Gyno's. The antithesis of that is the number of women who have demanded insurance benefits on their reproductive organs. That's paid off in coverage. Consequently, there's a good number of Gynos out there. You might think the men are trying to smell the pu**y. I assure you, they're smelling the $$$$$$!

I would think after doing pap smears all day and staring at vaginas 8-10 hours a day, totally maybe a dozen vaginas a day, 60 a week, he wouldn't want to see anymore. Its like people who work at McDonalds. At the end of the week, they don't want to eat another cheeseburger.
It could also be that he enjoys delivering babies. What's more satisfying and exciting than bringing a life into this world?
Now, what do you think about male urologists? Do you think they all gay?

Why not ? I am not sure why some become gynecologists...maybe they are in wonder of life and fascinated by "how things work" on a higher level. Maybe the female body is intriguing and started studying it....
Could be many reasons.....maybe one of their relatives suffered from ovarian cancer, was sterile or something and that picked their interests.
But to say they are perverts......: I have seen that Q before and people said they were all perverts..
PS: Well YOU got good answers unlike some others :-)

Maybe because society thinks just as your mom does, look at the world today, women still typically earn less then men, many men still look as women as a hole for fun and for babies, the mandatory housewife idea is still out there.
They went though 12 years of school, after college because they had a dream, and followed it though, unlike most of the world today, and so what even if that dream said one day I'm gonna be fixing a woman's *****, its still his dream. Oh and have you ever wondered why people are social workers? or volunteer workers? Because they like helping people?

Maybe....
They think that the birth of babies is beautiful and magical and they want to be part of it.
OR
they found out in medical school that they are very good at surgery and decided that they will save women's lives by cutting out ovarian cancers and uterine tumors.
OR
They are very caring people who like to take care of women. Some men just get along better with women just like some women just get along better with men.
OR
they have a gift for treating diseases like ovarian cysts, cystocele, or cervical cancer.

I think it's partially that and partially that they chose that particular field of medicine. Either way there are both males and females in every part of medicine.
