A couple weeks ago I saw a mouse run across my apartment kitchen floor. I hate killing animals so I bought a live trap that did not work. I ended up opening my garbage cupboard one morning and the mouse ran out under my feet and I stepped on it and killed it (accidentally). Since then, I cleaned up the poop, and have found MORE! So I went out and bought the plug in sound repellers, but I found mouse poop in my silverware drawer (sick!). I cleaned that out, but this morning I found one more piece of poop. I think I have persistent mice. I have also bleeched my garbage cupboard and taken out the trash twice since then, (a period of 24 hours), yet I still smell mice poop whenever I go near that area of my apartment. I think I have more mice somehow. Please help me...how do I get rid of these mice and keep them away? I live in an apartment on the second (top) floor, if that matters. I also love to clean, so I don't understand why this is happening to me!!! Please help, I'm desparate.

Hi, I had a frustrating mouse problem also, and two lazy male cats. I have a single family in a farm setting so mice are every were.
It is different for an apartment, you will have what ever your neighbors have, so don't blame yourself to much for the mouse problem.
I went to Home Depot and bought two different brands of mouse and rat poison blocks.
D-Con rodent control, not so good
Real Kill, Rat and Mouse Killer. whopping success!
I would like to also suggest that you empty your cabinets and look for mouse holes. toss in the bate and with putty or wood filler, plug up the holes. Also the holes where the plumbing pipes come through the walls. Mice need only 1/4 inch of space to climb through!

The mice are looking for food and as long as they find some anywhere in the building they will be around regardless of how clean you keep your apartment. The landlord needs to be notified so he can arrange an extermination. An infested housing complex is considered inhabitable and you deserve a reduction or witholding of the rent until the situation is resolved.
If you prefer a more peaceful way to deal with it, get a cat. Good luck!

First, if u r in a multi-family unit, the problem needs 2 be taken 2 management. My cuz had similar problem, except her new neighbors brought roaches as the housewarming gift. If u r concerned & taking action, your neighbors prbly r 2. Mice r just relocating from apt. 2 apt. Your entire building needs treated. N the meantime, if u r not horrified by mice, Clear out a drawer n your kitchen farthest away from food, rip up newspaper, make a bed 4 it n put a tblsp of peanut butter in it. keep your eyes open, nab 'em n set 'em free--far away

Well Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. We live in the country and we have roof rats. Huge rats the size of most cats. Well my husband the man who would rather hurt a human rather than an animal tries the live traps but we have to use the ones for raccoons and stuff cause the rats or so big. He tries everything he can think of. Well I hated to do it but I didn't have a choice those things can eat you out of house and home faster than teenage kids so i used the little pellets. I have seen mice caught on sticky traps and I WILL NEVER USE ONE OF THEM the little things literally starve to death and it is awful. The pellet bags are tasty to them and they will take it back to their nest. Beware though there has to be a source of water for this to work and you don't want them to die in your apartment. Keep sinks dry toilet lids down and pet watering dishes up.

Get a cat. I'm not even joking they are the best way to get rid of a mouse problem. We had two mice in our house that we think got in through an open back door- our cat caught both within 2 days and we havent had a mouse problem since.

Do you know they can have up to 50 babies every 2 weeks.....compounded? They carry disease, you should not have a problem exterminating them. You'll never win with live traps.

As a rodent lover, I hate to say this...but if you're renting your place...you should contact your landlord and have them hire a pest control company.
