I just finished completing the basics of my website and I think I will start advertising in about 1 month. There are a few pages that needs to be worked on, but overall the hard part is completed. I need some opinions to see if there are some minor changes or additions that I need to add. This will serve as a survey for me so that I can create the best site for my products. My website is www.newbornexpression.com. I don't mind constructive criticism either, as I enjoy learning from others!

Hi Lisa,

Congratulations, looks like you've got a nice business going there!

Here are some thoughts to consider:
- it's good to take surveys like this, but the only survey that really counts is when customers give you money. And many things that people will tell you about a site - "it's too busy" for example, may actually improve the site's selling ability. So take ideas, but don't take them with blind faith.
- one thing that I don't know about the sales impact, but it just bugs me, is the cursor tail that says "Memories do last forever." I would delete it; unless you can really show that it leads to sales, or that sales go down when it's not there.
- the yawning baby graphic is cute, but I bet you'll sell more if you have a featured item. Look at big successful catalog sites, they all have a featured item on sale or whatever.
- kill the hit counter; it says "home made" and reminds people that this ain't Amazon
- the slogans down the left side add no value... why have them there?
- the /products page may do better as your opening page, with a little tweaking. you should test that.
- the graphic buttons look cool, but they kill your search engine rankings (robots can't read graphics). Find a way to make text fit your design look and feel.
- what is "world of products" ? The link is a wrinkled catalog cover????
There's more, I'd suggest studying the big catalog sites, and reading everything you can about online product sales, conversions, etc.

Good luck!
Scott

To be honest, I don't like the color arrangements on your website very much. They don't match the colors on the catalogs. I think your website would be better if you used more neutral tones that would be easier to read. I do like the "About Us" section and the special notice your mouse reads "memories can last forever".

Also I would like to be able to view your catalogs online. I don't want to make two seperate purchases (one for the catalog and one for whatever I buy). It would be more convenient for the consumer to have a one stop to shop.

I do like the upfront shipping and handeling. Most places don't tell you s/h until after you put things in the shopping cart. All in all I think the site is very easy to navigate and will make an excellent addition to your business.

Hope that helps.

Lisa

I would ease up on the rhetoric the first thing I saw was. “Every Product is designed to meet excellent quality standards!!” CRAMMUS! I’d rather you tell be what the business does … it took me a while to figure out. Get fid of the curser trailer with the text … most people don’t like those.

I just want to congratulate you and to encourage you.
Your site looks great. You can count on me with ideas and ways to advertise it for free whenever you're ready if you need help. Meanwhile you can visit my website too and place any Ad for free on the "Classified" section on the upper right side, if you like.

All the best and good luck,
