If it is a broken toe then going to the hospital is pointless.. all they can do is tape the toe to the toe next to it.. if it were me i would just but ice on it, take Tylenol and if still in pain tomorrow go to the Dr.'s... It will be cheaper and quicker than a trip to the hospital.

nikki is partly right, but first aid leaves out a lot (sorry, nikki!). take her because they need to be able to see how it is broken and make certain the bones are in correct alignment to heal. yeah, they'll end up just taping it to the toe next to it most likely. that's what we do to our patients and that is what was done to me. but if the bones are not positioned properly it'll heal wrong...say forever overlapping that other toe, or always with a bend if you straighten it yourself without x-rays to show how it needed to be adjusted. it may look straight to you but what if a few years down the line she starts developing a limp because it wasn't actually aligned and healed wrong? at best they could re-break the toe to straighten it, but not likely. and bear in mind that a foot spreads everytime you put weight on it, which will cause that pinky toe's bones to try and move. hate to say it, but of any bones i've broken, that one was one of the most annoying because there's not much that can be done except taping (in alignment!!) and it hurts like the dickens.

no. If she goes to the hospital and has an xray, if it is broken they will just tape it to the next toe for support. Put some tape on it but make sure she touches the tip of her toe every day to make sure she can feel it. If she can't its time for a doctor!

Go to Hospital, maybe not A & E but during day light when they are not so busy. If the toe is broken you can not leave it up to mother nature to kiss it beter, it will heal wonky (sorry the best word I could think of)

It is a waste of time for toes.. ive broken 7 of them. at different times.
Ice to reduce swelling, Tape the toe to the toe next to it, and advil or tylenol for the pain.
The only thing is, is make sure shes had her tetnis booster shot. if not make an appointment with her regular doc. not an emergency room visit

Is it bruised, cause they say a break dosn't. Anyway if it is broken and you let it heal naturally, then there is the chance it will not set wright, and then that will mean having it broken again, besides if she is in that much pain then surely a couple of hours in the hospital is worth the wait for a bit of pain releif. All the best

Go!
in years to come when she has problems due to it setting incorrectly a few hours wasted down A&E will be worth yours and her time!
Just go!
when my bro dislocated his fingers, after a drunken incident I put one back into it's socket for him! but however much I tried and pulled the other wouldn't go back in! and i couldn't do with his screaming anymore!
So he got the other one done at hospital! he had to wait all night as he was a bit merry!!!! but he only ever gets pain from the one I supposedly fixed!
The moral of this story? Use the professionals!

What's A & E? If you can afford it, do a walk in to a local clinic, otherwise, go to a pharmacy? Or look up home remedies? Kids heal fast, I wouldn't worry. ( I think!) just put a gauze or brace in the toe, which you can buy at savon or rite aid, or Duane Reed (the east coast version of savon or rite aid).

its best they check it out to make sure its a clean break and no blood vessels are trapped or damaged, but they probably wont do anything, if its overlapping her other toe it may need restraightening, but it may be stuck there just simply cos its too darn painful to move!
Always best to get it checked, they will probably send her home with ibuprofen and told to keep foot elevated for a while.
