such as hosta's and day lilies? will the seeds grow if planted?

The seeds will grow, however it takes many years to flower and they will be crossbreeds which may not flower true to form.

sure. Bulbs produce bulblettes around the basis, base of the bulb over the years. Rhyzomes are considered one of those roots, as a results of fact the plant grows, it produces greater. If the flower is pollenated and allowed to mature (dry) on the plant seeds would be produced. no count if or no longer they are workable is yet another count.

Hostas and Daylilies(Hemerocallis) are not actually bulbs like Daffodils and Tulips. They have fleshy roots instead of a bulb. Many Daylilies stay green all year round. Both plants divide very easily. And every plant that makes flowers(except weird hybrids) in turn makes seeds :-)

The bulbs are grown from seeds. You can do this but it will take many years to produce a plant.
