I have 5 settings for the power.. 1-5... on 1-3 it wont work... on 4-5 it will.... not sure what is up with it.. anyone help?.. I drive a 99 Pontiac Grand Am

If you are talking about the fan speed, there is usually a resistor pack in the area of the passenger's feet, on the black plastic box that the air goes through. This is usually the cause of those kind of failures. It might be up under the dash a little ways. If you take it out, you will see some coily wire things on the back of it. They are resistors, and control the fan speed. There will be a plug with wires connected to this thing also. Good luck.

I,m not sure of the location on a Grand Am but what you describe almost always turns out to be a bad blower motor resistor. By directing current flow thru a series of resistors it slows the fan speed and when these resistors go bad the fan will run at full speed.

garanteed correct answer, look no further, you need a blower resistor. kind of a pain in the *** to change but they only cost about $60 at the dealership, and probably less at a local auto parts store.

Blower motor might be bad, drawing too much current. Have it checked out before you burn up your switches.

it is broken , get a new one from lowes for under one hundred dollars .
