I get my maincures and pedicures at my local nail salons in my town. At least every month or two months. I always go to places that are licensed. But, I heard gross stories about it is not safe to do this even though the places are certified and is licensed because of the equiptment they use. Is that true or is it just all talk? Is it dangerous to go to nail salons?

We definately take a chance in potentially putting our bodies at risk for infections. But we still go! So I'd say go to someplace where you see sterilizers and know they clean the tubs out. Don't go some place where they have those portable foot tubs (hard to clean). Also, ask them not to cut your cuticles (opens the nailbed up for infections) --- just push back. And if they must use the razor to shave your heels then request a fresh blade.

Also, never shave your legs before going for a pedicure.

Some salons have had problems because they don't follow the rules. Rules are followed more closely at a beauty colleges because it's a learning environment and students are their to learn the rules.

No but when you get your nails try not to get them done back to back. Let your nail rest in between because your nail base will weaken if you don't.
