Scientists, lab technicians make drugs. they try them on animals and finally on humans. Just to find out what happens.
They send out millions of $ worth of free samples and instruct your local doctor to use this for X disease.
the doctor obliges.
But YOU need a perscription because YOU cannot SELF MEDICATE.
REALLY?
everyone self medicates when we skip a dose or take an extra or just don't finish it or decide that we feel better and we SAVE some for next time or the others in our family.
Why can't we just get a quick exam, punch in other symptomes and get a script from a computer program? all you need is a tech to take temp, vitals and there you go. lab work acn be sent out, if need be.
and the health costs go down. one system that keeps track of everything you are and have taken.
what would be so wrong. Doctors would still be needed for ooperations, broken bones and urget care, but small thing like this would really help. Don't you think?
Opinions?

As for side-effects, they happen if the doctor prescribes them too, so no sale there.
the computer will have drug interactions noted and perscribe an alternative.
Abuse?
Well yes, It can happen, but what about having 5 doctors and getting hooked on 20 different medications?
The system of having doctors rule us in that way is FAR from perfect, too!
I have had doctors perscribe things that had my body acting like I had a stroke, and then falsify the records making it look like I disobeyed his 'orders'. Just so HE was covered in case of a law suit.
CYA, baby!
I mean if it written down by a DOCTOR it MUST be the truth, right?
