Perennial means that the plant grows year round and for a flowering plant it should flower year round.
Annual flowering means that the plant will flower once a year.

Most people answered your question. A Perennial is a plant that stays and usually flowers once a season.

The way I helped myself remember which is which(from Annuals) is Perennial has a "R" in it which means they repeat. "Annual" has no "r". I know it's stupid. But sometimes the stupid things stick :-)

Perennials continue to grow and bloom every year.Annuals will only last one growing season, many annuals will reseed, and that confuses people into thinking that a reseeded annual is a perennial, it is not.
Poppy's, Lily's,Hosta, Russian sage etc. are perennials
Geraniums, Begonias,Petunias, Snap dragon. are annuals

I think you mean "perennial"...?
It is a plant that stays alive over winter, and grows back (usually bigger) every year.
..... as opposed to "Annual" which only lives one year and then dies (and depends on its seeds only to maintain the species).
