We found a white pigeon with band on its leg....?
I have the numbers, off the band. How can I find out where it came from??? Please help! I have been trying to do a search, on internet, but no luck? Is there a website where you type in the number off the band, & find out it's origin? Serious replies only.

I would try to get a hold of the nearest college with a natural sciences departmment. It would apear you have found a tracking band. The professers at the school should be able to find the tracking number and get a hold of the people involved in the survey. They will probably get back to you as well, for information.

The tag on this birds leg is most likely a tag known to Homing Pigeons for racing leagues. There can be many found online, try http://www.pigeon.org/ and try the FIND A CLUB TAB..To find the one nearest your location.. or they also may be able to search the code for you.... good luck and god bless

Our neighbor has homing pigeons. He would set them free and then record how long it took for them to come back. He would also race them. See the below site if they can help you. They might recognize the band color and numbering system to help you.
PS What happens when you let the bird go? Maybe you should just allow it to fly away.

If there is a wildlife refuge or an outdoors school close, they probably did it. Go to them and see if you can trace the animal.
