It all depends on what side of the argument you are. Liberals think Bush and his henchmen try to stifle free speech, and think conservatives want to silence them. Ha ha! Where would they get that idea? Maybe from Valerie Plame, huh? Maybe from great patriots like Karl Rove and Scooter Libby, you think? Or even from Bush's great embarrassment, Tom DeLay.
Conservatives characterize anyone who disagrees with their views as someone who "hates America," and believe anyone who thinks Bush is an incompetent boob has to be silenced.
Republicans want absolute power and strive to stifle dissent with all their might. They seem to think the Constitution is a nice document, but not necessarily one they have to abide by. Unfortunately for them, the American people are beginning to see them for what they are. I can't wait for the next election.

I don't know about that statement. From what I've seen on this site, the conservatives and Republicans do a darn good job of being intolerant of others with a different point of view than themselves. Matter of fact, I see more questions such as yours than liberals asking about conservatives and Republicans. . .
But hey, that's just one liberal democrat's opinion. . .

For the people that answered before me.. you have to be kidding:
Democrats started Affirmative action: which is racist.. you give special privileges based on color or sex or creed....
Democrats started the Political correctness speech craze.... so you can't say what you feel because it may offend something.. last time I Church I should have the right to offend someone right.. its in the 1st amendment...
Democrats are pushing their religion ( atheism ) on the whole country.... I thought I had the freedom to practice my own religion

Because they are closet communist/socialists. Communism doesnt allow for others to disagree.
Libs preach tolerance, but are really the most intolerant people in America.

Conservatives are against gay marriage, welfare, freedom of choice, religious freedom, and national medical coverage. Conservatives do more to support white, rich, christian society than any other group. So who's intolerant of people?

so...you single out the liberals and democrats as being intolerant and nasty to those who are different...obviously you feel you aren't like that so you are "different"...you have shown yourself to infact be intolerant of liberals and democrats because they are "different".....I hope thats not too hard to follow...anyways, good job...your question has proved itself to be self destructive...think harder next time (but dont hurt yourself)

I think it is because they are secretly afraid they are wrong. So they have to attack those that disagree with them. If they scream loudly enough, they won't hear the logical reasoning of the conservatives and have to face the possibility that they are wrong.
