because more people go to see movies on the weekends because they are off work or their parents are off work so they go see them!!!!! it makes more opening day money!!!

Because most people go to the movies on the weekends. In the summer they will sometimes move it to a Wednesday release. It is all about money. Most movies only have 3 weeks to make their money and than it's waiting for dvd. People have so many choices to see now days movies don't have the legs they use to. It will be hard to have a Star Wars or a Titanic nowadays.

So they can start off with the heavy weekend traffic (which is a result of most people not having to work on the weekends). People also tend to think of Friday and Saturday as nights for entertainment; since movies are a major entertainment option, it makes sense to have new ones open on these prime entertainment shopping days.
Movies also open on or just before holidays for the same reasons.

Everyone goes on Fridays, that is why. Whenever my friends and I went to the movies it was on Friday or Saturday. We still do go much of the time. I have seen three movies this summer so far. X-Men:The Last Stand twice, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest once, and Superman Returns once. I am going to see Superman Returns again with my mom this time and then I might see My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

Because its the weekend and most people get paid on Friday so they have movies come out on Friday so that people are more likely to go see them because they just got paid
