Im not saying that ALL new yorkers act this way, but lots of them act cocky, arrogant and stubborn. They may have a, "Im from new york, so f**k you," attitude. Why is this?

I was about to pop off a message describing you as cocky and arrogant for what appeared to be a simple minded characterization of an entire population.

I read the rest of the statement, so I think, now, that this is a fair question. What you are describing is a stereotype; one of many New York stereotype, such as the Madison Avenue type, the crazy bag lady, the rude cabbie, the New York Jew, the die hard Yankees (or Mets) fan, the Puerto Rican New Yorker etc.

These types are based on real denizens of New York. Not a single one of these fits all of them.

Try living there for one month and you will see why...it's a bit stressful which may cause for some numbness in communication/interactions with others...that doesn't necessarily mean they are thinking "fu(k you" more like "i gotta go I gotta go Im gonna be late I gotta go"...the days seem to go by so much faster there is a line for everything even the gumball machine.....if you have your own car you will learn quickly that type of transportation is obsolete now its more of a hassle than anything else because the walk from your spot to your destination is longer than the walk from the subway to your destination and don't even lemme get started with the traffic...

I was born in NY and moved to Jersey....I have been to NC once and I did notice a difference in attitude....everything seemed to move in slow motion and people did seem to be more friendly than the people you might pass by in NYC but I think it has to do with your own personal stance, although your surroundings may affect your approach, it doesn't mean your character is better than somebody else's...

I don't think that native new yorkers exhibit that attitude. I tend to think it's the non-new yorkers who move into the city believing that it's a place of opportunity pick up on this "attitude" because that's what they think will get them to be more liked or better respected.

Most people from NY are really from all over the world. You may be thinking of the Italian stereo type often associated with NY. I'm from Long Island and whenever I go to the city to see a show everyone is very helpful and sweet. Everyone is in a rush though.

That's pretty much been my experience too. These are the ones from New York City though. Upstate New Yorkers do not behave in such a crass manner.

I maintain a definite point of admire for Barcelona they're an suggestions-blowing team. yet i've got have been given little or no time for their followers and their attitude, its disgusting. I reckon in the event that they have been waiting to take a step back and study a number of their very very own comments that they had be rather embarrassed. the large factor approximately that's that the Barca followers right here won't have the ability to banter with any genuine Barca followers via language barrier haha, isn't that basically pathetic.

It has to be so impersonal living in NYC that's why their pissed off. There are really no New Yorkers just people hiding out there looking for something they won't find. I lived in NYC in Queens in 1975 for 6 weeks and people were downright rude and they probably thought they were being cool .The rest of the country sees them as assholes.

those are old new yorkers that moved out pre 9-11....i went to new york after and everyone was so polite and held doors open etc....the ones that are really cocky are the artsy fartsy people in los angeles..some of them have no manners and they dont help other people when theyre struggling with something theyre carrying.... they just ignore them...

the ones i've come across were. i went to college on the east coast and the new yorkers that i went to school with were brash and arrogant. once you got to understand their style, they were pretty cool guys. i think it's just a style like an accent, but not neccesarily an indicator of what kind of person they are.

get yourself a gun. it's the greatest tool you can own.

it's the american way. it is written in the bill of rights, you should read up on it.
i learned that the hard way. i was held up before and robbed of $20 stupid dollars. haha! no big deal, but i was pissed that it even happened. i found the guy who held me and my friend up by tracing the phone calls he made on my cell phone and i drove over to his house at 2am in the morning and shot up 6 rounds off into his car, house and all his windows.
his place looked like downtown Baghdad after i got through with it.

so i bought myself an unregistered gun and now i use it as often as possible. i'm shooting out windows of people's cars i don't like and they don't know it's me.
i have a professional job, i make over $700,000 a year, and i went to a good university with high grades, i got all straight A's and i was a nerdy type, but i grew up in a lousy neighborhood and my parents left me when i was 14. i grew up with step parents and they would beat me all the time when they were in a bad mood.
i had to get a job and support myself when i turned 17, and then i went to school at night.
everything i earned i earned it the right way and the hard way, so when i hear and see stupid people trying to do stupid things, they wish they never would have met me.
because i spare them nothing and i shoot first and don't ask questions ever.
i leave them bleeding in the middle of the street, let god sort them out.
