Did the 37 cents come from Itanium, expectations to meet or beat estimates tomorrow? Could they meet or beat estimates for the quarter?

The increase may have come from positive reviews (according to Tom's Hardware Guide) of the its new Core 2 Duo (E6000 Conroe series) against AMD dual core in benchmark tests and that this positive review comes two weeks before its official launch.

Intel is slashing costs (e.g. layoffs, downsizing) because of shrinking market share and slowing computer sales. Whether it meets or beats estimates remains to be seen - I think it also depends on marketing and what its main rival, AMD does in response to the new challenge.

Even though it outperforms the AMD dual core chips, the new Intel Core 2 Duo will have to be priced competitively to make a real difference.

itanium is a piece of junk.

The new intel dual cores are all the latest rage but amd will be putting out a quad core i think in 2007 but im not sure when.

so it looks like intel is going to be beating at amd for a little bit.
