12 & 19.... However if it adds help to your research... I had bought my own and saved up for a tracfone when they first came out with the nokia 918P. It sucked!!! I have had them all on prepaid and postpaid they all suck and T-Mobile is the one that i stuck with!!! They are cheaper and allow me to use my same service with same number and phone in most contries!!! they are the only worldwide wireless service provider!

I got my first cell phone at 16 ~ I bought it with my own money, just needed a parents credit card. I am now 22 and on my 3rd cell phone....

I was 16 when I got a cell phone, I'm 22 now and i bet I get a new one every year because of someone stealing it or breaking it or losing it

I was 12 years old when I got my first phone. It was because my parents were always on business and I never saw them so they got me a phone. I am now 13.

i was 18, and i'm 20 now. the only reason i got one was because i moved into the dorms when i went off to a university, and it's easier to get a cell phone for that type of situation, instead of trying to set up a land land.
